Texas Licensing (TSBPE)
Texas licenses plumbers through the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE). Apprentices must register within 90 days of starting work under a licensed journeyman or master plumber. After completing an approved apprenticeship and the required hours, candidates sit for the journeyman plumber exam. Master plumber status requires 4+ more years plus a separate exam. TSBPE also requires a plumbing inspector license for commercial work in some municipalities.

Demand Drivers
Houston's energy sector drives constant industrial plumbing demand — refineries, petrochemical plants, and LNG export terminals require licensed pipefitters and plumbers at scale. Beyond energy: residential construction (Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery counties), healthcare system expansion (Texas Medical Center, Memorial Hermann), and post-Harvey infrastructure repair continue driving sustained demand.
